What is Google Dorking?

Google Hacking or Dorking is not forbidden or punishable for now!

The term Google Dorks or Dorking was first used by Mr. Johnny Long, who used search parameters to find unprotected content on the internet in 2002. The Google Hacking Database once described dorks this way:
'We call them googledorks: incompetent or stupid people exposed by Google. Whatever you call these fools, you have found (with them) the center of the universe Google Hacking!' There is now a large database of such queries. Because all information found in this way is accessible unprotected via the web, because it was not protected by the user/owner of the information. However, it becomes a criminal offense if the information found in this way is misused for criminal purposes and causing damage (financial, personal and any other kind) to the affected users.

Google hacking is not a hacking attack on Google itself, but, just like a Google Dork query, a special search query using advanced parameters, to retrieve information from the web that would otherwise be unavailable, but which has been publicly posted by the user (knowingly or unknowingly, it remains to be seen). They can only be accessed because the user has not protected them or has protected them inadequately. Google hacking or dorking is legal in the first place, but it can quickly become a criminal offense. However, if you use it to scan your own website for vulnerabilities or to optimize personal search results, it can be a great help. Hacking/dorking can be used, for example, to obtain user names and passwords, e-mail addresses and many other documents. Such data can then be used for identity theft or other crimes.

Special parameters are prefixed to the URL and narrow down the search query. Some are known, others may not be. However, this is just a selection of the common search parameters. In the search queries, several parameters can also be linked together, for example to search for a certain filetype on a certain site. Furthermore, it is also possible to refine the actual Google search query. To do this, you call up the advanced search and can improve the search query by entering various details in a form.

" " - Two quotation marks. This allows you to search for exactly the specified word/phrase between the quotation marks.

intitle: searches for the specified term in the title of the pages.

allintitle: searches only for pages that contain all specified terms in the title.

inurl: searches for the specified term in the URL of the pages.

site: limits the search to a specific website.

filetype: searches for a specific file type, e.g. PHP or PDF. It is also possible to filter out several file types at the same time. To do this, the file extensions are separated with "|".

cache:url outputs the version of the URL cached by Google. This is very useful if a page has been changed in the meantime. However, since Google refreshes the cache regularly, the pages may not last very long. For longer dated page versions, the Wayback Machine can be used.

info:url provides an overview of all information that Google has about this URL.
